The Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an educational program that acknowledges and values an individual's learning achievements gained through experiences outside formal education, such as non-formal education, informal learning, and work experience. This program allows individuals to receive recognition for the competencies they have already acquired and continue their education at a higher level in a more efficient manner.

Through the RPL pathway, students can have their prior learning recognized and earn academic credits equivalent to those obtained through formal education. This offers an opportunity for them to complete their formal education more quickly and obtain the desired qualifications without having to repeat material they already know. The RPL program is regulated by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek), and its implementation is outlined in the Ministerial Regulation Number 41 of 2021. 

Several requirements that need to be met in order to apply for the RPL program include:

• Application form
• Recent formal passport-sized photo
• Scan of valid identification card (ID card/Passport)
• Scan of birth certificate
• Scan of diploma and National Examination Result Certificate (for high school/vocational school graduates)
• Employment verification letter
• Work documentation / project assignment letter
• Certification
